The Academic Secretariat is one of three sections which make up Governance Services. The Academic Secretariat:
together with the University Secretary's Office, and with input from Education Policy Services: provides support to the Universitys governance, legislative and academic policy development systems manages the executive/administrative aspects of the formal governance structure of the University from Senate, through Academic Board/Council and their various standing committees to the faculties
manages and co-ordinates decision-making structures and processes to ensure: an effective interface between the executive, administrative and collegial functions of the University; a streamlined flow of business through the various levels of decision-making; and the use of appropriate delegations
is heavily involved in academic policy making
through both its management role and the provision of an advisory, consultative and executive service to key committees, contributes significantly to the process through which the major academic structural and policy decisions determining the directions and future shape and activities of the University are made provides executive and administrative support to the Academic Board, Academic Council, Legislative Committee and Academic Year Planning Committee manages the University Policies website co-ordinates and monitors the University's cyclical review processes provides policy analysis and advice provides training for committee executive officers and for the Faculty Administrative Officers works with the Registrar on a wide range of matters of significance in the Registrar's Office and in the wider University |
