Faculty Governance

Statute 8 sets out the membership, role, powers and responsibilities of the faculties.

Clause 5 of Statute No 8 states:

"5.(1) Each Faculty must have a governance document which sets out the constitution and membership of the faculty and its committees and boards.
(2) A faculty must submit its governance document to the Academic Board for approval."

The faculties' current governance documents are available in the University Calendar.

Faculties are required to review their governance documents at least once a year and to forward any amendments to the Academic Secretariat for consideration by the relevant committees.

The template for faculty governance documents has been revised in response to the recommendations of the Working Smarter through Committees report.  Please see the template and FAQs for further information.

The Working Smarter through Committees report requires the creation of communication and decision-making maps for committees.  A Faculty Communication map and Faculty Decision-making map are available to assist faculties with this task.
