CALLS FOR NOMINATIONS FROM ACADEMIC BOARD TO OTHER COMMITTEES ARE NOW OPEN (See below under "Elections") OverviewThe Academic Board was established by, and is governed by, Statute 19 and the regulations made under it, which specify the Board's executive, recommendatory and advisory powers and obligations and its membership, giving it authority to delegate powers and responsibilities to committees, subject to Senate approval. For the constitution of the Board, see Statute 19 and associated regulations in The University of Western Australia Calendar. The Senate relies on the Academic Board for advice and recommendation on academic related matters. This includes advice on budgetary and resource allocation matters, although this advice is often provided through its executive committee, the Academic Council. Agendas and Minutes are circulated to all Heads of School. Minutes are accessible via the intranet and a keyword search facility is available. (Note: the key-word search is case insensitive. To search on more than one key-word use the separators 'and' or 'or' as appropriate.) Members are given the opportunity to submit questions on notice to the Board in accordance with the procedure outlined. Sub-committee of the Board (the Nominating Committee)The Board has nominees on Academic Council and on Senate and Council sub-committees. In the event that these positions are not filled through the standard nomination processes, it is the task of the Board's one sub-committee, the Nominating Committee, to nominate suitable persons. The Nominating Committee consists of the Chair, Deputy Chair, Chair Elect and Past Chair of the Board. The Academic Secretary (see Academic Secretariat staff list) is the secretary to the Nominating Committee. |
