Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee is a joint committee of the Senate and Academic Council and is chaired by the Chair of the Academic Board.  The committee considers proposals relating to the University's internal legislation including by-laws, Statutes, regulations, rules and prize and scholarship conditions, and has authority to approve or endorse certain of these on behalf of the Academic Council.  The Legislative Committee has a standing drafting sub-committee whose role is to undertake detailed consideration and amendment, if necessary, of the wording of proposed new and amended internal legislation.  The drafting sub-committee meets at least once each month in the months of February to November inclusive and more frequently in the months of June, July and August when its major role is to consider Faculty Rules.
